Counselling Session

What you can gain from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a form of talking therapy focused on the present and on problem solving.

In session we will talk about:

- how you think (about yourself, others and the world around you)
- how your behaviour is affecting your thoughts and your mood

Having different life experiences and different beliefs (about ourselves, others and the world) impacts on the way we perceive certain situations and our reactions to each situation may be different. That is why you may be finding some situations more problematic than others.

CBT can help you explore and modify your behaviours and way of thinking.

Over the years CBT has been scientifically tested and results are showing long lasting effects on a wide range of difficulties. We can work on many different problems: anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, personal crisis, health related problems, relationship issues. CBT may help if you have difficulties in adjusting to change and if you're experiencing weight problems.

CBT sessions:

From the very first session you will be working on identifying your current problems and achievable goals.

In the first session you may be asked to fill out particular forms to assess your mood. That will be followed on in later sessions which help to assess your progress.

Your active role in planning your treatment will assist you in learning new skills. You will use the time between sessions to practice those newly learned skills.
